About

The Des Moines Kennel Club is an AKC Member Club and was organized in 1925. Presently, there are approximately 60 members representing 40+ breeds of purebred dogs.

The purpose of the DMKC is to promote purebred dogs. An annual AKC licensed dog show is held each September with an entry of approximately 1,000 dogs each day. Each year the DMKC hosts a “Fun Match” open to all AKC registered dogs over the age of three months.

Seminars and Public Education projects are provided several times a year. The DMKC hosts weekly public classes and “Meet the Breed” events throughout the community.

Membership meetings are the first Tuesday of each month. Prospective members are encouraged to attend meetings prior to applying for membership. All interested people are welcome to attend the meetings.
